Does Ariana Grande Get Designer Clothing For Free Despite Her $200 Million Net Worth?
Ariana Grande is, undoubtedly, one of the most successful women in Hollywood today. After all, she’s quite the triple threat, with her proven ability to sing, dance, and act.
Grande already has 12 Grammy nods and two wins to date. Not to mention, she’s also received a lot of praise for her portrayal of pop star Riley Bina in the latest Netflix film Don’t Look Up.
Grande has also become quite the fashion icon. In fact, people still can’t stop talking about the Vera Wang gown that she wore to the 2018 Met Gala or the futuristic Atelier Versace gown she wore to the 2016 Billboard Music Awards.

Ariana Grande Was Born To Be A Fashion Star
From the very beginning, people can’t help but pay attention to Grande’s style. That’s something that stylist Law Roach knew from the beginning.
“Ariana Grande is absolutely iconic,” he told Page Six. “The ponytail is iconic. The A-line skirts are iconic. The over-the-knee boots are iconic. For me, it’s a formula to play with.”
As Grande grew up, she naturally made some changes to her style. “She is evolving into a fashion girl, and is changing,” Roach told Teen Vogue back in 2016. “When girls become women, their ideologies change, and so does their style.”
So when the time came to figure out Grande’s outfits for the singer’s 2019 Sweetener world tour, Roach told People that he decided to “take her authentic blueprint and make it feel fresh and elevated.”
While Grande’s style has definitely evolved over the years, the singer has still maintained her love of certain fashion classics, especially those looks inspired by the Jennifer Garner rom-com 13 Going On 30.
Here’s Why Fans Think Ariana Grande Gets Free Designer Clothing
In the past, Grande paid homage to 13 Going On 30 by dressing like Garner’s Jenna Rink for a scene in her music video for Thank U Next. As it turns out though, the singer wasn’t done honoring the film yet.
Just last year, she made her debut on The Voice while wearing the very same iconic Versace dress that Garner had worn in the movie for the Thriller dance sequence.
Donatella Versace herself confirmed that Grande was wearing the very same dress from the film. “My gorgeous girl @arianagrande in Versace SS03 for her first The Voice live show!!!” the designer proudly wrote on Instagram.
And while Grande could have readily bought the dress, it’s likely that Versace had happily gifted it to the singer. Meanwhile, it also seems that Versace had long planned to give the dress to the singer.
Grande’s stylist, Mimi Cuttrell, had revealed on Instagram that her look was “six months in the making.”
Grande has also been known to have custom outfits made for some of most high-profile engagements. For instance, the singer wore the most incredible grey Giambattista Valli tuille dress to the Grammys in February 2020.
More recently, she also rocked a custom chocolate brown corset dress by Vivienne Westwood during the finale of The Voice. Though it’s possible that Grande had paid for her outfits, it’s also possible that designers readily gave their clothes to the singer.
After all, Grande is, undeniably, one of the best endorsers anyone can ask for. For the record, the singer has been named a brand ambassador for both Givenchy and Reebok.
Ariana Grande Also Became The Subject Of Fashion Controversies A Few Years Back
While Grande usually gets a lot of praise for her fashion, it seems she’s also rubbed others the wrong way in the past.
It all started when the singer herself filed a complaint against fashion brand Forever 21 for allegedly promoting products using a model who appears “strikingly similar” to Grande.
The lawsuit also revealed that Forever 21 had tried to do a partnership with the singer in the past but as her lawyers explained, “The proposed endorsement deal never came to fruition because the amounts that Forever 21 offered to pay for the right to use Ms. Grande’s name and likeness were insufficient for an artist of her stature.”
Instead, the singer’s legal team also alleged that the brand “falsely suggested Ms. Grande’s endorsement by hiring a look-alike model and posting photos of that model in clothing and accessories that resemble clothing worn in Ms. Grande’s music videos…”
News of the lawsuit also prompted Farrah Moan to accuse the singer of “stealing” her look from RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars.
“Ariana should give me a cut of that 10M since her team literally sent a pic of me to the designer and paid them to copy my look from as4. (Finally met the designer and got told the Tea),” the drag queen posted on Twitter. “I guess stealing from queer artists for profit is fine tho [sic]”
At the same time, fashion watchdog Diet Prada has also accused the singer of “appropriation of black aesthetics.” On Instagram, the account posted Grande’s alleged mood board for the Sweetener world tour, noting that “72% of the four page [sic] document features black women as a reference.”
In response, Roach posted on Instagram, “This mood board was created by me (a black [sic] man) for her. So am [I] stealing from my own culture???”
